The aim of this study was to analyse the stress distribution in maxillary canines restored with different post systems and definitive crowns. The models of restored teeth with glass fiber, quartz fiber, titanium posts and crowns were developed with the Finite Element Method (FEM) in order to analyse their stress distribution when subjected to external compressive loads. Von Mises stress distribution values, which are considered potential fracture indicator, showed that natural tooth and glass fiber post-restored tooth, under a load of 550 N, presented similar stress values. The behaviour of a glass fiber post-restored tooth is similar to that of a natural tooth, since it produces an appropriate stress distribution, and in this investigation, they have the best biomechanical performance.

Biomechanical Evaluation of a Spinal Screw Fixation System by the Finite Element Method Evaluación Biomecánica de un Sistema de Fijación Espinal con Tornillo por el Método de Elementos Finitos

The objective of the present study was to validate virtual models for the study of dual core and cylindrical screws and evaluate the influence of the geometry of the screws on the mechanical behavior and anchoring. Two models of dual core screws were used, one with a double thread and the other with a single thread, both with a conventional cylindrical screw were used in this study. The stiffne...

Using the Finite Element Analysis Method to Study the 3-point Bending Test for the Characterization of the Adherence

An elastic finite element analysis was conducted to evaluate the stress distribution in the initiation zone of the adhesive rupture during the 3-point bending test. This test is used to measure the adherence between a polyepoxy adhesive and aluminum alloy with different surface treatments. The purpose is to compare, in the high stress concentration areas, the stress fields calculated using fini...

Transdermal patches loaded with pravastatin was previously characterized in another published study by Serrano-Castañeda et al; 2015. These transdermal patches (TP) were generated by the plate casting technique, the in vitro percutaneous absorption studies of TP were evaluated for three different formulations of TP with different quantities of Pluronic F-127 (PF-127): i) without PF-127 (TP W), ...
